Rufus Wainwright / Roadtrip Elegies: The McCabes Sessions 2LP Vinyl
Description
Roadtrip Elegies: The McCabes Sessions is a collection of songs recorded by Rufus Wainwright at the iconic McCabes Guitar Shop in Santa Monica, CA in March of 2020. The audience in attendance included songwriters like Burt Bacharach and Mike Stoller, who had been a bridge between Tin Pan Alley and Rock & Roll, conjuring the breadth of the show’s repertoire. Jackson Browne’s presence symbolized the evolution of folk into the kind of exquisitely crafted songs which Rufus is known for. From the opening burst of Harold Arlen’s “No Business Like Show Business,” Rufus unified nearly a century of popular music with an ease that made The Roches, Irving Berlin and Schubert sound perfectly natural together.
