After a barnstorming 2013 Fat Freddyâs Drop returned with two 12â singles with re-workings from Theo Parrish, Ashley Beedle & Darren Morris and Colleen âCosmoâ Murphy & Andy Yam Who?.
The first of the set features a vocal and an instrumental translation of âMother Motherâ from Theo Parrish. The Detroit producer and DJ delivers a masterful yet twisted, ten-minute-plus re-wiring of Fat Freddyâs Dropâs soulful, techno-tinged workout. Taken from the New Zealandâs 3rd LP âBlackbirdâ, Gilles Peterson described the original as âan incredible piece of music.â
âMother Motherâ gets the four-to-the-floor treatment from Colleen âCosmoâ Murphy & Andy Yam Who? on the A-side to the second 12â. On the flip side is Ashley Beedle & Darren Morrisâs cosmic âAfrikanz On Marzâ remix of âNever Movingâ, also lifted from the âBlackbirdâ LP.
